BoinxTV: Perfect for School Video Production
BoinxTV is perfect for school video production. After working with the program the very first time it is easy to see why it won Apple’s Design Award for excellent usability and innovation. The program is easy to use and adds capabilities not available in iMovie.
iMovie is a fantastic tool for creating video projects in the classroom. It is, and will always be, a primary tool for my students and myself. What I like about BoinxTV is that I can create wonderfully edited videos to be shared later with amazing effects, just like iMovie, and I can also create live video productions full of amazing effects, something iMovie is not able to do. Also, Boinx effects can be added during filming. This will save time and provide immediate gratification to you and your students. Imagine interviewing a guest speaker with the subtitle, background, and other effects being layered during the actual recording. Brilliant!
Another important quality of BoinxTV, and any piece of educational software, isease of use. BoinxTv’s intuitive interface and well-thought-out controls makes a quality first time production not only possible, but fun. Often when adopting a new piece of software, especially for classroom use, the entry level of frustration is so high that that the teacher and student become discouraged. Not so, with BoinxTV. This program is designed well. It’s great the first time, and has enough layers of higher application and effects to keep you coming back to try it again and again.
I believe BoinxTV is a must for any school that is currently doing live video production or considering it. (It is also a worthy iMovie contender as well.) BoinxTV has great looking templates you can choose from to get your production started. Simply choose one of the many great looking templates like BTVNEWS, a professional looking television news template complete with animated background graphics, multiple subtitle bars, introduction sequence, multiple cameras, and so much more. This is very powerful video production software perfectly designed for your school at a discounted educational price of $249 for single use, with rebates for additional licenses. The price for non-educational use is $499. That’s a savings of $250. (I like it when educators get the discount.) You can try BoinxTV out for Free for 30 days too.
BoinxTV combined with the use of a simple green screen make this program essential for every school. The possibilities are limited to your students’ imaginations.
The easy-to-use control panel asks you to add layers prior to ‘going live’ that reminds me a lot of GarageBand. (See photo.) In the top right hand corner you see what is actually on the screen. To add one of the layers, after editing the information, you simply select the ‘live’ button and watch it transition onto the screen. Removing the layers, either in front or behind the actor, yes behind, is as simple as de-selecting the ‘live’ button. At the bottom left corner you see ‘layers’ and ‘sources’ selections. Selexting layers allows you to add some amazing features. The ‘Sources’ selection allows you to choose what cameras to use and microphones. You can add multiple cameras and switch to different camera angles while live (neato!) while keeping the audio crisp and all screen effects in tact. Or you can start off with the built-in iSight camera and microphone and still create some amazing projects.
Trust me, BoinxTV is must-have for any school.
